About KudaKusum

Kuda Kusum Balika Maha Vidyalaya (KKBMV), Bandarawela is indeed proud to be the only girls’ school in the Uva Province. The service rendered by principals past and present, as well as teachers who are dedicated and devoted themselves to bring recognition to the school, has uplift the school as being one of the best.

In 1927, the school was set up as Bandarawela Little Flower Convent, with 7 students and 5 teachers, under Rev. Mother Mary Casilda as its first principal. At first, it was a private, mixed, primary school. In 1956, it was upgraded as a higher secondary school. In 1971, the school was taken over by the government, and in 1978, made a Grade II School. Then the school was placed under 1 C group and classified a Maha Vidyalaya in 1979. It was made a National School in 1993.

Kuda Kusum BMV has produced some exceptional personalities such as Srimani Athiulathmudali, Minister M. Sachchudanandan and famous actor Jackson Antony. Much has changed over the years and today, there are nearly 2,000 students catered to by over a dedicated academic staff a hundred.
